In 1907, Major Edward J. Bowes, later of
the "Original Amateur Hour"
fame, and the Narrows Land Company were instrumental in platting
Regents Park as a subdivision of Tacoma. In September 1925, when
Regents Park became incorporated as a fourth class town, the name was
changed to Fircrest. Since 1990, Fircrest has been a non-charter code city
and is now the City of Fircrest. The 1997 population was 5,895.
