| The Sixth Avenue
shopping district has been a landmark for the residents and
University of Puget Sound students in
Tacoma's North end since the 30's. It's only 1 mile from the
Antique shop at 6th & State to the Company C Gift Shop at 6th
& Proctor, but it's a pleasant walk through the business
district on a nice warm, sunny afternoon. Make sure you allow
several hours to enjoy the many shops, boutiques and
restaurants that line the way. As a matter of fact, plan on
spending the whole day from breakfast to dinnertime, because the
choice of establishments available for breakfast, lunch and dinner
are many and varied at very moderate prices. |
|
In between meals, be sure to take the time to look through the
many shops that line the avenue. You'll fine everything from beads
and vintage clothing, to clocks and other exquisitely crafted time
pieces. Look through the windows at Swans Magazines and marvel at
the million plus issues of collectible comic books and magazines. If you want to get
a closer look, you'll have to make an appointment. It's a store
for serious collectors only. |
|

|
|
You'll also find a store where nothing is more than a dollar. Cash
only please! If you're looking for "High Tea" in the
afternoon, you can find that also on the "Ave". Old records, new records, CD's,
computers, |
|

|
flowers, foot wear, personal
trainers, taverns, blues music, ballet dancing lessons, vacuum cleaners,
lawn mowers, cell phones, internet cafe, laundry, dry cleaner, barber
shops, salons, auto supplies, garden & grow lighting, catering, medical
supplies, pet doctors, |
|
|
people doctors, graphic arts, hardware &
building supplies........All these and more are on the Avenue. If you can't find what
you're looking for, you've spent much too much time enjoying and not
enough time looking.
